SOYA CHUNKS filled MOMOS/ DUMPLINGS

Momos/ Steamed Dumplings is the famous Indian Street Food available as all sorts of eateries. Momos are similar to stuffed Dumplings. The only difference is that momos are steam cooked and served with spicy chutney or sauce. Momos are stuffed with various fillings like chicken, vegetables, paneer etc. In this post I will be sharing the recipe of Soya Chunks filled momos which are very delicious and fulfilling.

Ingredients

  • Plain Flour/ Maida 1 cup

  • Baking Powder 1/4 tsp

  • Warm Water 1/4 cup

  • Shredded Soaked Soya Chunks 1 1/2 cups

  • Finely Chopped Onions 1/2 cup

  • Finely Chopped Ginger 1 tbsp

  • Finely Chopped Garlic 1/2 tbsp

  • Finely Chopped Green Chilies 1/2 tbsp

  • Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves 1/4 cup

  • Black Pepper Powder 1 tsp

  • Garam Masala 1 tsp

  • Oil 2 tbsp

  • Salt to Taste

Directions

  • FOR THE DOUGH: In a bowl, take the plain flour, season with salt. Then add baking powder, mix. Pour warm water and mix well to bring the flour together. Place the flour over a working board and knead well to get a smooth, hard dough. Keep the dough aside, covered for 30 minutes.
  • FOR THE FILLING: In a bowl, take the shredded soaked soya chunks. Add chopped onion, ginger-garlic, green chilies, coriander leaves, black pepper powder, garam masala, oil and salt to taste. Mix well. Keep it aside.
  • FOR THE MOMO WRAPPER: Take the kneaded dough, divide it into small portions. Roll the dough portions into small balls. Dust the working top with flour. Now roll out the dough balls into small round sheets. Dust it well with flour till all momo wrappers are rolled out.
  • STUFFING THE MOMOS: Place the momo wrapper on your palm, fill it with 1 tbsp soya chunks filling. Apply water on the edges of the wrapper, seal the momo to get a semi circle, Now bring the edges of the semi circle momo together and paste them together. Do this with all the wrappers.
  • STEAMING THE MOMOS: The momos need to be steam cooked. Place the momos in a steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes or till the wrappers become tranlucent.
    Serve the momos hot with your favorite spicy chutney.
