Aaloo tikki is a snack popular in India. It is made out of boiled mashed potatoes with some spice mix and is either deep fried or shallow fried till crispy on the side and soft inside. Aaloo tikki is served with different types of chutney or used to make chaat. In this blog I will share an easy recipe of aaloo tikki.

Ingredients:
Potatoes 07-08 big sized
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Red Chili Powder 1 ½ tsp
Coriander Powder ½ tsp
Cumin Powder 1 tsp
Black pepper Powder ½ tsp
Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil to Fry
Butter ¼ cup
Water as required
Directions:
- Wash the Potatoes and keep aside. In a pot take a liter or two of water, put potatoes with a pinch of salt and boil the potatoes till soft.
- Peel the boiled potatoes and mash well. To the boiled mashed potatoes add all the dry spices and mix well. At last add the salt to taste and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Apply little amount of oil on your palm. Now take small portions of mashed potato on your palm and roll out to make small ball. Press the ball to make a flat Pattie and keep aside.
- Heat a frying pan on medium low heat. Brush the pan with some oil and butter and place the patties on the hot pan. Cook the patties on the both the sides till golden brown. Press the patties with the spatula and flatten a bit. Occasionally brush the patties with oil onto the top and sides.
- Once the patties get golden brown on both the side and crispy on the sides, serve the tikkis hot with green chutney or make aaloo tikki chaat.
