I still recall my school days… not only because of my teachers and friends but also because of the lunch my mother used to pack for me and my sister. Lunch break was bliss for me because I used to get different food items for lunch break every day and everything used to be my favorite. One such Food Item I still love is the French toast. In this blog I’ll share the quick and easy recipe of French toast with a little twist of mine. French toast is one of the quick and easy options for breakfast or even for evening snack.
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 03-04
Course: Breakfast/ Evening Snacks
Cuisine: Unknown
Ingredients:
Eggs 04
Milk 1 cup
Sugar 3 tbsp
Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
Cinnamon Powder ½ tsp
Salt a pinch
Bread Slices 12
Butter ¼ cup
Refined Oil ¼ cup
Directions:
- Crack the eggs in a bowl and beat well. To the eggs add the sugar, milk, vanilla essence, cinnamon powder, salt and whisk till well incorporated. Egg mixture is ready.
- Heat a non-stick pan or a skillet or a grill pan on medium low heat. Brush the pan with refined oil, when it heats, add ½ tsp of butter to the pan.
- Take one slice of bread at a time and dip into the egg mixture. Turning both the sides to coat well on both the sides.
- Place the dipped bread slice on the hot greased pan and cook well till golden brown on both the sides. Cook on both the sides till crispy.
- Serve the French toast hot with fresh seasonal fruits of your choice or with honey.
Tips: a) When greasing the pan, first grease with the oil and then with the butter. One can place the dipped bread slice after the butter turns little brown. This gives a burnt taste to the toast which is mouthwatering and tasty.
b) Dip the bread slices turning to coat both the sides quickly. Don’t let the bread soak to get crispy French toast. Soaking bread slices may make soggy French Toasts.
c) If you don’t like too much of sugar, decrease the quantity of the sugar and replace it with honey. Pour one or two tsp of honey while serving the French toast. You can even serve the French toast with fresh seasonal fruits to add little sweetness.
