COOL REFRESHING ICE TEA

Ice Tea, what if it is homemade. Ice Tea is my and my mum’s favorite. During the summer evenings I prepare ice tea for both of us and enjoy it while chattering. It’s not only refreshing but it is also easy and quick to make. Do give it a try my friends! Scorching summer is here and we all are troubled by it. It is the time when we all take the refuge of cold beverages be it chilled water, cold drinks, smoothies, juices, ice tea etc. One of the best options to beat the heat is this cool refreshing ice tea.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Course: Beverage

Ingredients:

Water                                                                  750 ml

Tea                                                                       2 tsp

Ginger                                                                  1 inch

Cardamom Pods                                                 2

Sugar                                                                   ½ cup

Salt                                                                      ½ tsp

Lemon                                                                 01

Mint Leaves                                                        5-10

Ice Cubes                                                             10-20

Directions:

  1. Take the ginger and peel it off. Crush the ginger and keep it aside. Take the lemon, cut it into half and squeeze out the lemon juice of one half in a bowl whereas keep the other half for garnishing.
  2. Take the water in a saucepan and heat it on medium heat to bring it to boil. To the water, add the crushed ginger, cardamom pods, sugar, and salt.  Boil the water for some time.
  3. Once the water comes to boil, add the tea to the boiling water, cover the saucepan, remove it from the heat and let the tea brew for some time. Let the tea cool completely.
  4. Once the tea is cooled completely, add the lemon juice and mix well. Then take a mason jar or a tumbler into which add the ice cubes, mint leaves and sliced lemon. Now add the cooled tea into the jar/ tumbler. Garnish with mint leaves, sliced lemons and serve the chilled ice tea.

Tips: One can even skip the sugar and opt for honey for a healthier version of ice tea. For the honey ice tea, make the tea without sugar. Then when the tea cools down completely, add the honey to the tea according to your taste; mix well and then serve.
